About the Artist
Clay is so delightfully messy. It’s playing in the mud. I love the process of taking this squishy, floppy material and shaping, refining, cleaning, finishing it into hard, precise shapes. I’ve been working in this medium for more than 20 years and always feel that I’m improving and learning.
Jewelry is my newest clay passion. I am inspired by beautiful lines, fine detail work and a unique approach to jewelry.
In addition to working in my home studio I get to teach ceramics and photography at Bryn Athyn College which keeps me happy because I like people a whole lot and need the human interaction outside of my house. I’m grateful for the opportunities in my life that provide me the space and safety to work as an artist. Ceramics Love Always Yes.
My Process
All of my designs have to be carved in reverse with inverted relief. When carving it can take a minute for my mind to switch over to backwards thinking, but soon it seems as natural as seeing the world in normal directions.
